Pledge Your Action for Persons with Disabilities

I pledge to:
1) help deaf friends to communicate / connect with hearing friends
2) make a stand for the deaf to get more rights & benefits.

Examples of Pledges You can Make

If you are an employer, you may pledge to hire one more person with disability.

If you are waiting to enter the lift or MRT train alongside someone in wheelchair, you may pledge to let them enter first.

If you are looking for dining options, you may decide to patronise restaurants that hire persons with disabilities.

If you encounter persons with disabilities who look different from you, do not stare at them. You wouldn't want to be stared at too.

If you see anyone who seems to need a bit of help, you may offer your help. However, do not insist on helping if the person says no.

If you have some time to spare, you may pledge to volunteer at a VWO.

Everyone is a champion. We can certainly contribute in our own ways.

About This Project

We are from the National Council of Social Service (NCSS). This pledge site is part of the “We are ABLE! Enhancing Possibilities, Celebrating Abilities" campaign. We would like to raise awareness and to invite you to pledge an achievable action for persons with disabilities, so as to contribute to an inclusive Singapore.

Singapore signed the UNCRPD on 30 November 2012. The UNCRPD consists of 50 articles-which outline areas where the interests of persons with disabilities are to be protected. It focuses on ensuring that persons with disabilities can have the opportunity to live a dignified life and be given access to all areas of life: including health, physical environment, education and employment. Singapore's Enabling Masterplan (EM) has paved the way and laid the foundation for Singapore to progressively realise the vision of the UNCRPD - to build an inclusive society.
